1940s Pine Crest half-belt jacket

This vintage jacket was made by Pine Crest Outerwear immediately post-war, probably 1946-1948. It is a classic pre-war cossack style, unlined, with handwarmer pockets, a zip breast pocket, zip front, and half belt back with low slung side adjuster belts. It has a spring loaded Crown zipper with two way teeth for the main zip and a early style bar-connection ring pull Talon chain zip on the breast pocket.

1950s Atomic Fleck hollywood jacket

This is a great Hollywood jacket, with belted, gathered back, front and back yokes and an antomic fleck green fabric. It appears to have been relined at some point in a clashing stretchy polyester.

1950s-1960s Brent Half-belt

This vintage leather jacket was made for Montgomery Ward in the late 1950s- early 1960s and sold under their Brent label. It is made of leather, with a half-belt back, a surcoat length, Conmar Conmatic main zipper, zippered breast pocket and combination handwarmer/cargo pockets. It has a full quilted lining.

1940s Golden Bear leather jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1940s by S. Slater & Son of San Francisco, under their Golden Bear label. The jacket is made of goatskin, with a full belt, pleated back, yoked front and back, handwarmer pockets concealed inside the front vertical seams, and flapped cargo pockets. It has a talon zipper with a rectangular holed pull and Talon marked “U” stopbox, which put its date of manufacture between about 1944 and 1948.

Ralph Lauren corduroy belt-back jacket

This jacket was made by Ralph Lauren under the Polo label, and has a design heavily influenced by sporting jackets of the 1930s, with its buttoned collar extension tab, saddlebag pockets and belt-back. Tagged a size M, this measures out a a size 36.

1940s Grais Sportswear leather half-belt jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made by by Grais – Sportswear with Grace in the 1940s. It has a half-belt, pleated back, a surcoat length cut, a tunneled, elasiticized belt with a single button closure, a blacked out Talon of mid-late 1940s manufacture, and ring pull chain zippers on the dual breast pockets. The cargo pockets are flapped and there are buttons on the cuffs.

Late 1940s H Bar C gabardine belt-back western suit

This vintage suit was made in the mid-late 1940s by H Bar C of California. It is made of wool gabardine, with a waist length cossack style jacket, with a half-belt back, handwarmer pockets, breast pocket and talon main zipper. The pants are western in style.

Denver Colorado made custom deerskin leather jacket

This vintage jacket was likely made in Denver, Colorado in the 1950s. It is made of deerskin leather, and has all the unusual details which I have only found on Denver based custom makers, like the trapezoidal reinforcement stitching at the base of the bi-swing shoulders, the button front, the slightly narrower than typical belt to the half-belt back, the style of pleats to the back, the flapped patch pockets, the extra long cuffs, the seam in the lining at the belt-line. This one doesn’t have a label, but A.T. Hendrick is one of the Denver makers which also exhibit all the eccentricities of this pattern. I have had other jackets of theirs from the late 1930s and 1930s. This one feels a bit more refined, a bit later, but still has the distinctive detailing held over from the patterns of the 1930s, modified with a bit of extra length, an additional breast pocket, and tweaks to the collar.

Cushman Japan reproduction wool half-belt jacket

This jacket was made by high end Japanese manufacturer Cushman, inspired by a mid 1930s workwear jacket. It is made from gray and eggplant plaid wool, with a half-belt back, built in vest, handwarmer pockets, belted cuffs, breast pocket and zip front. The jacket has a Waldes main zipper with an early 1930s Talon influenced grommet stopbox. The pocket zipper has a ball and chain pull, again typical of mid 1930s jackets. The jacket is, as was typical of this style of 1930s jackets, unlined. The front panels have a sort of half-lining, from the same wool as the jacket, which folds forward into the attached vest. It has cat-eye buttons. The side adjuster belts have fancy metal buckles. The jacket has a black and yellow label reading, “Outerwear by Cushman, Smarter Styling – Longer Wear”, in addition to a keystone All Wool tag.

Sleeve (center of collar to end of cuff): 34″ (roughly equivalent to 18″ shoulders and 25″ sleeves)
Length (collar seam to hem): 25″

This jacket was made by Ralph Lauren under the Polo label and is based closely on work jackets of the 1930s. It has a half-belt back with side adjusters, shirt style collar, buttoned cuff adjuster belts, unlined construction with tape seams, handwarmer pockets, a zipped breast pocket and vintage style buttons.
