1930s Alaskan horsehide jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made in the mid 1930s by Alaskan from genuine front quarter horse-hide. It has a pin-lock grommet zipper made by Talon. The jacket has a half-belt, a yoked back and really nicely detailed pleats, which mirror the detailing on the pockets. There are side adjusters and cuffs with double buttons.
1930s Pendleton Mackinaw wool utility jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1930s by the Pendleton Woolen Mills of Portland Oregon. It bears the early style Pendleton label, used up to the early 1940s. The jacket is a mackinaw wool work style, with a distinctive combination yoke and shoulder reinforcement, rounded collar points, D-shaped handwarmer pockets, buttoned side adjuster tabs and button adjusters on the cuffs. The zipper on the jacket is a 1950s-1960s replacement, made by Talon. As is typical of these early mackinaw work jackets, this one is unlined. With a 49″ chest, this would best fit a size 44 or 46

1950s W.B. Place deerskin jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Hartford, Wisconsin in the late 1950s-1960s by W.B. Place & Co, Deerskin Tanners, makers of Gloves and Jackets. It is made of deerskin in a classic utility jacket style. It has patch pockets, a square front and back yoke and a main Talon zipper.

Cushman Japan reproduction wool half-belt jacket

This jacket was made by high end Japanese manufacturer Cushman, inspired by a mid 1930s workwear jacket. It is made from gray and eggplant plaid wool, with a half-belt back, built in vest, handwarmer pockets, belted cuffs, breast pocket and zip front. The jacket has a Waldes main zipper with an early 1930s Talon influenced grommet stopbox. The pocket zipper has a ball and chain pull, again typical of mid 1930s jackets. The jacket is, as was typical of this style of 1930s jackets, unlined. The front panels have a sort of half-lining, from the same wool as the jacket, which folds forward into the attached vest. It has cat-eye buttons. The side adjuster belts have fancy metal buckles. The jacket has a black and yellow label reading, “Outerwear by Cushman, Smarter Styling – Longer Wear”, in addition to a keystone All Wool tag.

1960s Brent half-belt leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made in the 1960s for Montgomery Ward under their Brent label. It is a classic half-belt cossack leather jacket style, popular from the 1930s-1960s. While it is not labeled, with its heavier weight, this feels like a steerhide rather than horsehide. This one has a larger Talon zipper than earlier models, as well as a quilted nylon lining. These are rare to find in larger sizes like this, and even rarer to find in such good condition.

1940s Brazilian herringbone tweed jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Brazil and sold in the late 1940s-1950s. It is made of a bold herringbone tweed material, with a brown mouton collar. It was sold by Alfred – Kalil Sehbe S.A. – Camia Do Sul. European influence is also visible in the hardware. Though made in Brazil, the Astro brand zipper (with interesting stapled grommet style male end) does up on the left track as opposed to the American way of having it on the right. The jacket has a quilted lining.
