1930s-1940s Cougar men’s double breasted overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the late 1930s- early 1940s by Cougar (rugged as the Rockies) for the Van Zant & Willman Golden Clothes Shop, 2222 Halstead St, Chicago, Illinois. The coat is double breasted, with broad lapels, It has handwarmer pockets and double button belted cuffs, and is fully lined. It bears a 1939 Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union label.

1940s two tone half-belt gabardine jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the late 1940s. It is made from wool gabardine in a half-belt cossack style, with a zipper front, handwarmer pockets and side belt adjusters. It is fully lined. The zipper is a bell-shaped Conmar zipper of the type used during WWII.

1950s-1960s German motorcycle jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Germany in the late 1950s-early 1960s. It is a classically German double breasted cut, with a wide collar and concentric stitching on the shoulders and elbows. The bottom portion of the jacket is quilted. There is a zipped breast pocket, partially under the lapel, as well as zippers on the sleeves and at the side vents, where there would be laces on an American made jacket. The jacket appears to be made from an imitation leather product from its stamped grain pattern. The jacket is lined in a heavy moleskin, and there are two interior pockets. The zippers are all marked with sailboats. The inside of the jacket is embossed with the maker’s name, VEB, Freiberger Leder Bekleidung, which translates to Freiberger motorcycle leathers.

1940s tweed sportcoat

This vintage tweed jacket was made in the 1940s. It is made of an oatmeal and brown striped tweed, similar in pattern to what was used on Fender tweed amps. It is single breasted, with three leather knot buttons, no vent, and patch pockets. The jacket is half lined and has no tags. The leather buttons may be replacements, as there is a bag with smaller matching leather cuff buttons in the pocket which have not been sewn on.

1930s Klinkerfues North Country Outdoor Wear double breasted mackinaw coat

This vintage mackinaw coat was made by the Klinkerfues Manufacturing Company of Saint Paul, Minnesota in the late 1930s under their North Country Outdoor Wear label.
The coat is a dark blue gray mackinaw wool with an eight button front. The coat has handwarmer pockets with D-pocket stitching as well as flapped cargo pockets. It has a belted back and is unlined, as is typical of these early production mackinaw coats. The back of the collar is stamped JV.

1930s Jack Frost Coat plaid double breasted mackinaw

This vintage coat was made in the 1930s by Jack Frost outerwear. It is made of red black and gray plaid mackinaw wool. The coat is double breasted, with handwarmers and flapped cargo pockets. It has a pleated, belted back. As is typical of these early production mackinaws, the coat is heavy-weight and unlined.

King-O-Wear workwear jacket

This vintage work jacket was made by King-O-Wear. It is a waist length style, made in black wool, with buckle adjuster sides, handwarmer pockets, a zipper front and grommet reinforcements for a badge. This style goes back to the 1930s, but this example was likely produced in the 1960s. As is consistent with earlier production examples of this style, the jacket is unlined. The 1949 union label and the Talon zipper on this helps to date this one. While the pull on the zipper goes back to the 1930s on luggage, its usage on jackets did not start until later. The stop-box is of the type which started use in the late 1950s. The union label is a half-scale variant which I have only seen used by King-O-Wear.

Reproduction 1940s style belted leather jacket

This leather jacket was made in the 1980s or so in the style of a 1940s fully belted leather surcoat. The belt buttons on and off like the originals (though most of them have lost their front sections). It has a zipper front (nylon ykk) and a bi-swing back.

1940s Canadian Tropal Coat

This vintage coat was the Canadian version of the English Tropal coat. While the British versions were originally insulated with sheepskin, and later kapok, this is lined with a green pile. The coat is single breasted, with a wide overlap and internal windflap to keep out the harsh North African winds. The oversized collar flips up and latches for extra protection. The buttonholes are leather backed for durability and the collar is wool faced. The lining is removable via Newey snaps.

1940s German leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made in Germany the late 1940s – early 1950s. The label is worn but looks like it reads Rostra . It is double breasted, with scalloped yokes front and back, loop closures for the leather buttons, belted cuffs, scalloped handwarmer pocket flaps and a zipper pocket on the chest. The pocket has a Zipp Zipper, marked DRP Nurnberg on the back The jacket has a removable wool plaid lining, which is removable by means of PRYM snaps.
