1950s Kuppenheimer atomic fleck suit

This vintage suit was made in the 1950s by Kuppenheimer and was sold in Livingston, Montana by the Progress Clothing store. It is blue wool with an orange fleck and slubby texture. The suit is single breasted, with a low two button closure and notch lapels. It is half-lined and has a short vent. The pants have drop loops and cuffs.

Chest (pit to pit): 22″ (doubled = 44″) Size 40
Shoulder to shoulder: 18-1/2″
Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 25″
Length (base of collar to hem): 31″

Waist (side to side): 17″ (doubled = 34″)

1930s US Biological Survey bag

This vintage canvas bag was made in the mid 1930s and was used by the US Biological Survey for poisoned grain, which was used to eliminate “undesirable species” from the western states of America to clear the way for agriculture and ranching. The Bureau of Biological Survey was created in 1934 and lasted until 1940, when the Fish and Wildlife Service was created.
The bag is made of selvedge canvas, with the selvedge edge by the zipper. The zipper is a very early Talon, made in the same shape as earlier Hookless zippers. The buckle has anchor and “W” hallmarks.

1930s Protecto The Rancher cowboy hat

This vintage cowboy hat was made in the 1930s by Protecto. The model name is “The Rancher”. It has a wide bound brim and a five cord hatband. The sweatband is an early 1930s style, with a wide embossed stripe at the top. The liner is the nearly identical to the “Last Drop” image as is found on Stetson hats.

1940s Dobbs suede finish fedora hat

This vintage hat was made by Dobbs in the early 1940s. It is made of a suede-finish fur felt, with an underwelt brim edge and a teardrop crease. This is typical of sporty fedoras of the wartime period. The hat has a brown leather sweatband, which bears the slanted Dobbs name. The hat was originally sold at Vandt’s Mens Wear of Missoula, Montana.

1950s Dobbs Westward fedora hat

This vintage fedora was made in the 1950s by Dobbs. It is their “Westward” model, their answer to the Stetson “Open Road”. It has a C crown, narrow ribbon with western style bow and bound brim.

1950s Penneys Gentry sportcoat

This vintage tweed jacket was made in the late 1950s-early 1960s for Penneys, under the Gentry label. It has a classic 2-roll-3 cut, and a wonderful fabric with subtle orange and blue/green. It bears a variant of the 1949 Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America tag which was used between 1949 and c. 1961. The (R) symbol was added to the lower left corner of the label in 1962.

This vintage jacket was made by Hart Schaffner & Marx in the late 1950s. It is made of striped dark blue and orange wool with a diamond weave. It has a three button front and notch lapels. The jacket is half-lined.

1930s Woolrich 255 plaid coat

This vintage jacket was made in the mid to late 1930s by the Woolrich Woolen Mills of Woolrich, PA. This is the rare 255 model, with caped shoulders, handwarmers with D-pocket stitching and flapped cargo pockets. It has exposed buttons and a rear game pouch. The coat, in keeping with many early mackinaw coats, is unlined.

1930s Red Hudson’s Bay point blanket coat

This vintage coat was made c. 1937 from Hudson’s Bay Company point blankets. The coat is a classic late 1930s double breasted mackinaw cut, with flapped patch cargo pockets and slash handwarmers with arrow reinforcement stitching. The back has a scalloped yoke and pleated back. The cuffs have buttoned adjusters. Inside are two different styles of Hudson’s Bay label, which help with the dating.
