German rubber raincoat

This vintage raincoat is made from heavy rubberized canvas, with a wool collar. It has raglan shoulders, a typically European buttoned tab closure rather than a more traditional fully buttoned front, epaulettes and a large D pocket map pocket. There is a tag reading “36”, but with an extra large 52″ chest, this would best fit around a US 46.

1918 dated WWI army overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in 1918 by Cohen Endel . . . of New York and was distributed by the New York Depot quartermaster. The coat is double breasted, with a belted back and buttoned throat latch. There is a secondary stamp from the New York Depot, stamped Marvin Falk and what looks like 1933. The belt-back is is sewn over the tag and lining, and from its construction, looks like it may have been added later. There is a army air corps patch on the shoulder, obviously added later than WWI, however if the coat was re-issued in the 1930s, it would likely have been added at that point. The As is typical of coats of this period, it is only partially lined.

1920s herringbone tweed Regency House overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1920s-1930s by Regency House of London and New York. It was styled in Golden Square, London, and was sold by Carson Pirie Scott & Company, a high end department store based in Wisconsin. It is made in an extremely bold black and white herringbone tweed, with raglan shoulders, broad lapels, a plain back and button adjuster cuffs. It is half-lined, as was typical of overcoats of this period. There is an internal breast pocket, a smaller pocket, and a button on throat latch for cold weather.

This vintage overcoat was made for the Swiss Army. It is made of gray green wool. It is double breasted, with epaulettes and button belt loops. It is half-lined.

1950s Italian Navy bridge coat

This vintage overcoat was made in Italy for the Italian Navy. While it appears to have been produced in the 1950s from the label, save for the gold anchor buttons, the silhouette, with its sharp peak lapels, belted and pleated back, and nipped waist have a distinctly 1930s look. Switch out the gold buttons for black plastic and you have the perfect pre-war civilian overcoat.

1900s fur lined wool overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made around the turn of the century. It is double breasted and has a wool shell with an astrakhan collar, toggle closure, cuffed sleeves, ticket pocket and full fur lining. Perfect for the aspiring robber baron.

1920s leather lined shawl collar coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1920s. It is a shawl collared mackinaw style, with a sheepskin collar. The coat is belted with an early style buttoned belt. It has handwarmer pockets on the chest and flapped cargo pockets on the hips. The coat is leather-lined in the body and sleeves for windproofing. Prior to the adoption of leather as a common exterior material for coats in the 1920s, it was popular as a lining material for outdoorsy garments like this one.

1950s German Leather Overcoat

This vintage leather overcoat was made in Germany in the 1950s. It is made from heavy russet brown leather- probably steerhide. It has yoked shoulders, a buttonless double breasted front, slash handwarmers, zipper pockets on the chest, and a zipper pocket behind the lapel. All zippers are riri. The coat has a full plaid lining and an intenal snap fastening belt. The back of the coat has a nice double inverted (non-functional) pleat sunburst design.

1930s men’s alpaca overcoat

This vintage coat was made in the 1930s and was sold by Aune and Thune of Redwood Falls, MN. It is made from an alpaca and wool blend, in an unusual stone green color. The coat is not in the best of shape, with a lot of wear wear to the top buttonhole and surrounding fabric, and moth damage to the surface of the fabric, particularly near the bottom hem. The manufacturer’s label also shows heavy wear. The coat is a classic six buttoned double breasted cut. It has cuffed sleeves, contrast caramel colored buttons, and a belted back. Chest: 22″ Sleeve (center to cuff): 33″ Length (collar to hem): 48″
