1960s Brent half-belt leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made in the 1960s for Montgomery Ward under their Brent label. It is a classic half-belt cossack leather jacket style, popular from the 1930s-1960s. While it is not labeled, with its heavier weight, this feels like a steerhide rather than horsehide. This one has a larger Talon zipper than earlier models, as well as a quilted nylon lining. These are rare to find in larger sizes like this, and even rarer to find in such good condition.

1950s Lazarus single breasted overcoat

This vintage coat was made in the early 1950s for the F & R Lazarus Company of Columbus, Ohio. It is single breasted, with a three button front, raglan shoulders and handwarmer pockets. It is made in a muted plaid wool. The coat is half lined and bears an early variant 1949 union label.

Sleeve (center of collar to cuff): 36″ (roughly equivalent to a 25″ sleeve)

1940s overdyed brown Hudson’s Bay point blanket coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1940s by the Hudson’s Bay Company. It is made of the English production blankets, which helps with the dating. The coat has broad shoulders and a double breasted cut. It has handwarmer pockets and a plain back. It appears that the coat was at one point overdyed dark brown. Although Hudson’s Bay did make shorter length bay blanket coats, I have not seen this particular style from them before, which, in combination with the period color change makes me wonder if this was at some point professionally altered from a longer coat. Whatever the case may be, it was done well, and gives it a distinctive and sporty look.

1960s Custom Inspired blue chesterfield coat

This vintage coat is single breasted and made of blue wool, with a black velvet collar. It has fishmouth lapels and flapped pockets. According to the tag it was “Custom Inspired by the ‘gifted hands’ of master craftsmen”.

1930s-1940s Durolux double breasted overcoat

This vintage coat was made in the early 1940s by the Joseph & Feiss Company under their Clothcraft label from Durolux fabric for the Beck Clothing Company of Jamestown, North Dakota. The coat is dark blue, double breasted, with wide lapels, handwarmer pockets and a plain back. It is half-lined.

1940s John Rissman wool windbreaker jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Chicago c.1947 by John Rissman & Son under the Windbreaker label. It is made of a brown wool material with an alpaca pile-like napped surface. It has a transitional Talon zipper with a wartime style pull and a post-war style stopbox, which helps date it with a good degree of accuracy to the years immediately after WWII. The jacket is a cossack style, with a pleated and belted back and handwarmer pockets. The jacket has a quilted lining and bears the union label of the United Garment Workers of America.

1940s John Rissman gabardine windbreaker jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Chicago c.1948 by John Rissman & Son under the Windbreaker label. It is made of a khaki wool gabardine. It has a Talon zipper with a Talon marked stopbox and square cornered slider, which helps to date it. The jacket is a cossack style, with a pleated and belted back and handwarmer pockets. The jacket bears a rare half-scale variant of the union label of the United Garment Workers of America.

1970s Fit-U beltback suit jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1970s by Fit-U Clothes for Gordons Isnor Limited, which had locations in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. The jacket has a belted back, scalloped pocket flaps, with the one on the chest serving a purely decorative purpose. The jacket is half-lined.

Penney’s plaid hunting jacket

This vintage hunting coat was made in the 1950s for Penney’s. It is made of heavy black and red plaid with a buffalo plaid lining. The coat has snapped cargo pockets and game pocket entry as well as handwarmers. It has a Talon zipper front.

1970s Canadian Rhino-Tex police jacket

This vintage police jacket was made in the 1970s in Toronto Ontario, Canada by Sainthill Levine under their Super Rhino Tex label. The jacket has hooks for a Sam Browne Belt, epaulettes and a four button front with breast pockets. It is fully lined.
