Late 1920s tweed jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the late 1920s or very early 1930s by Capps clothes. It is made of a bold herringbone tweed. The jacket has fishmouth peak lapels, a slanted breast pocket, and a three button front. The jacket is unvented, has a cotton petal lining with taped seams. The jacket is deadstock and still has the original tag, identifying the model as “York”, sewn under the collar. This is the perfect jacket for an upcoming tweed ride, tweed pub crawl or general autumnal wear.

Grayhound belted back tweed jacket

This vintage jacket was made by “Greyhound” in the late ’50s or early ’60s. The dating is a tad tricky to be exact on because of the unusual design of it. It has a four button front, moderately narrow lapels, with no buttonhole, yoked shoulders, and a working belted back. The belted back is a throwback to suit designs of the 1930s. This one adds a twist to it. It is stitched down in the back, but extends further up. The ends are free, and can be used to cinch the waist in by way of button adjusters.

Action front 1960s sportcoat

This vintage tweed jacket was made by Greyhound. It is an unusual style, which makes dating a bit tricky, but from the lining and label, I would lean towards the early 1960s. Stylistically, it draws heavily from leisurewear of the 1940s. It has a Hollywood jacket style collar. There are twin breast pockets, which are still basted shut. Large, deep pleats run from these breast pockets to the flapped hip pockets. The jacket has a four button front and a square cutaway.

1930s Irish Tweed overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the mid 1930s from “Obrien Fleece” tweed. It was sold in Saint Paul, Minnesota by the Golden Rule store. Obrien Fleece was a high end Irish tweed fabric of the period, made, as the tag states, in the Irish Free State. The Irish Free State existed from 1922-1937, which helps to date this coat. It has classic double breasted styling with raglan shoulders, patch pockets and cuffed sleeves. There is a throat latch inside the coat by the store label. A somewhat unusual feature is the small interior pocket, closed with an early Talon ball and chain zipper. The Talon name is seen on the slider and on the ball. Really incredible, detailed labels.

This vintage wool cape was made by Pendleton woolen mills. It is a heavy wool plaid material, brown, blue gray and white. It has a fur collar and a full lining.

Tweed Hollywood Jacket

This one may not have the immediate flash and bang of the two tone variety, but it’s wild in its own right. The cut, those pocket details, and oh that fabric. This vintage tweed hollywood jacket has some really killer detailing. It has four patch pockets, all are pleated. The larger, lower set are flapped. The jacket is rolled to the third button, but has five, all evenly spaced. The buttons are leather knot / football type, but could probably stand to be replaced. The top button is missing, the third is in the pocket, as is one of the sleeve buttons. The jacket is fully lined, but I can not locate any labels. It has classically ’40s wide padded shoulders. The flecky tweed is heavy and soft- comfortably casual

1930s Sportking Cap

This vintage darted eight panel flat cap dates from the 1930s. It was made by Universal Sportking. It is a wonderful oatmeal flecked tweed with a blue and yellow overcheck. Unfortunately, the moths have gotten to this one at some point in its 75 year lifespan. It is a size 7.

Bold Tweed Overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1930s or 1940s. It has a classic double breasted cut, with a belted back. It has flapped patch pockets, and is half lined. But what really sets it apart from the crowd is the fabric. This is the boldest herringbone I’ve seen outside of an Apparel Arts illustration. Unfortunately, the label is long gone. The fabric has multicollored pre-atomic flecks of red, green and white.
