Famous D-Pocket motorcycle jacket

This vintage jacket was made in Canada by “Famous”. It is strongly reminiscent of the also Canadian-produced Brimaco D-Pocket motorcycle jacket, which was in turn inspired by the Design of Harley Davidson’s “Cycle Champ” D-Pocket. So although this one was produced in the 1960s, the design and detailing go back to the 1940s. The jacket has a map pocket with sub cigarette pocket, mirrored by a larger patch pocket on the other side of the asymmetrical zipper. The jacket has zipped cuffs with 1930s-1940s style cuff detailing. It has a plaid lining, and a Canadian produced (left tracked) Acme zipper.

Georgetown Leather Design half-belt leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made by Georgetown Leather Design. This was made in the late 1960s in the early days of Georgetown Leather Design, a high-end DC area leather company, before they opened their other area locations in the early 1970s and changed their label. The jacket is made in a half-belt cossack style, popular from about 1935 to the late 1950s. By the 1960s, most manufacturers producing this silhouette had changed the dimensions and detailing, however this one plays it completely straight, and other than the label and quilted lining, it could easily pass for one made nearly 30 years prior. It is made in heavy leather, probably steerhide, with a wonderful patina. The main zip is a brass Talon, as is the pocket zipper. The jacket has scaloped cuffs, a belted back, bi-swing shoulders, and a short, trim cut.

1940s Dureghan Longwear overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1940s by the New Process Company of Warren, Pennsylvania under the LongWear label of Dureghan 100% Wool fabric, with a luxurious nap. It is single breasted and half-lined.

1930s Sears Hercules plaid mackinaw coat

This vintage mackinaw coat was made in the late 1930s for Sears under its Hercules label. It is wool plaid in a double breasted cut, with handwarmer pockets and flapped cargo pockets. As is typical of these earlier production mackinaws, it is unlined.

1930s plaid stag coat mackinaw

This vintage jacket was made in the 1920s-mid 1930s. It is what was then called a stag coat, a variant on the mackinaw coat. It is single breasted, with patch pockets and a fold over collar. It has a double back, and is unlined.

1950s camel colored Land-N-Lakes western jacket

This vintage western jacket was made in the late 1950s by the Herman K. Lavin Company of St. Paul, Minnesota under the Land-N-Lakes label. The jacket is made from a blend of Wool, Nylon and Cashmere in gray. The jacket has peak lapels, and fancy western yokes front and back. It has bi-swing shoulders and saddelbag pockets.

1920s herringbone tweed Regency House overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1920s-1930s by Regency House of London and New York. It was styled in Golden Square, London, and was sold by Carson Pirie Scott & Company, a high end department store based in Wisconsin. It is made in an extremely bold black and white herringbone tweed, with raglan shoulders, broad lapels, a plain back and button adjuster cuffs. It is half-lined, as was typical of overcoats of this period. There is an internal breast pocket, a smaller pocket, and a button on throat latch for cold weather.

1920s Gimbel homburg hat

This vintage hat was made in the late 1910s-1920s by Gimbel. It is a shallowly flanged homburg style, made in lightweight fur felt, and creased with a center dent and pinches. It has a wide ribbon with a feathered trailing edge, as was the fashion of the time, and narrow binding. The has has an unreeded sweatband with a taped rear seam- the stitching of the sweatband is still in tact. It is tagged a size 6-7/8.

1950s blanket stripe Ario’s Western jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1950s for Ario’s of Great Falls, Montana (serving the stockman since 1897). Ario’s was founded by Victor Ario as a saddlery, and developed into a full outfitter. Ario’s son, who took over the business, retired in 1957 and the company became the H Bar O saddlery. From the styling of this jacket, I would put it in the mid 1950s timeframe. It has the typical styling of a western jacket, heavy weight fabric, peak lapels, bi-swing shoulders and a square bottom. This one is made of striped blanket material. The pattern is similar to Pendleton’s Glacier National Park blanket or a Hudson’s Bay point blanket, though the stripes are out of order from the arrangement found on those mills, so I’m not positive what company produced the fabric. The yoke work is some of the most detailed I’ve seen, with sharp cutaways, and is mirrored on the design of the pocket flaps. The jacket is fully lined, and has a model tag reading, Montana.
