1930s Red Hudson’s Bay point blanket coat

This vintage coat was made c. 1937 from Hudson’s Bay Company point blankets. The coat is a classic late 1930s double breasted mackinaw cut, with flapped patch cargo pockets and slash handwarmers with arrow reinforcement stitching. The back has a scalloped yoke and pleated back. The cuffs have buttoned adjusters. Inside are two different styles of Hudson’s Bay label, which help with the dating.

Yellow Point Blanket Coat

This vintage coat was made by the United Colors of Benetton. It is made of striped point blanket material, like that made famous by the Hudson’s Bay blanket coats, but in a vibrant yellow, red, green and gray pattern never offered by the HBC. The collar is backed with corduroy. The coat is single breasted, with patch pockets.

1960s does 1920s one-piece swimsuit

This vintage one piece swimsuit was made in the 1960s, part of a short lived revival of 1920s mens swimsuit styles. It is a copy of a one piece 1920s style, with a blue top, striped bottom and a white belt. Unlike the originals, which were made of wool, this one is made of nylon. It was never sold or worn, and still has the original tags. It is tagged a size medium

Gray Blanket stripe coat

This vintage jacket was made in the 1970s or 1980s. It closely follows the pattern of Hudson’s Bay point blanket jackets of the time, with its shirt style collar and buttoned patch pockets. However, I don’t believe the Hudson’s Bay Company ever produced their jackets in this period with a gray background. I have seen this pattern of fabric made by Woolrich and by Pendleton, so possibly it’s one of theirs.

1960s men’s one piece swimsuit

This vintage swimsuit was made in the 1960s by Campus Sportswear. This was part of the brief resurgence of 1920s men’s styles in the ’60s. This is a late ’20s or early ’30s style, a one piece, with side cutouts. There are belt loops for what would probably be a white web belt. The suit is marked a size 28-30.

1930s boys swimsuit

This vintage swimsuit was made in the 1930s. They are made from blue waffle knit wool, with double piped side seams. The belt has tunneled loops and a double ring belt buckle. There is heavy staining on the outside on the back side, and several moth bites on the front, near the waistband on the right hip (photo side left).

Denim half-belt utility jacket

This vintage jacket was made postwar, probably in the late 1940s , but is nearly identical to the pattern of leather utility jackets popular prior to the war. It has slash handwarmer pockets and a diagonal breast pocket. There is a half-belt with side adjuster belts, and bi-swing shoulders. In front is a brass talon zipper, which still works well. The jacket is made of a herringbone stripe blue denim. It’s interesting that the panel underneath the halfbelt has the pattern running 90 degrees to the rest of the jacket, providing visual contrast.

Mac Mor Canadian blanket coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1950s by Canadian company “Mac-Mor”. This is another striped blanket coat, ala The Hudson’s Bay Company. The multi-stripe and red and black are the most common combinations on these Canadian blanket coats, which makes this one somewhat unusual. It has a white background with black and yellow stripes in differing widths and combinations. With the white background of this coat, there are scattered stains, the worst of which is on the left shoulder. The jacket has a gray quilted lining.

Early 1950s Aetna Miamian men’s swimsuit

This swimsuit was made in the early 1950s by Aetna. It is their Miamian model, for which I found newspaper ads in 1952 and 1953. It is made of Acetate, Nylon and Rubber, in a heavy textured fabric. The front panel has stripes, the back panel is plain white. There is a bit of light staining on the back. They have a drawstring waist.

Waist unstretched: 10-1/2″ (doubled = 21″)
Waist stretched: 20″ (doubled = 40″)
Rise: 12-1/2″
Side Seam: 8-1/2″

The Rayland Bathing Suit

These trunks were made in the early part of the 20th century, 1920s or prior. They are wool, with a button fly. They have a flapped key / coin pocket. Originally there would have been some kind of top- probably striped, that would have gone along with these. The belt loops are a different color and type of wool- I wonder if they were added later? Seeing as they’re 80 to 100 years old, they do show some age, but I don’t see any stains or moth bites.
