Del Rio 1930s Overcoat

1930s sheepskin shawl collar mackinaw
This 1930s sheepskin shawl collar mackinaw is a rare, large size- 48. It has a sheepskin lining and collar, with blanket lined sleeves, and a cotton shell.
1930s Hudson Bay Blanket Coat
I love hudson bay blanket jackets. I wear a ’40s peak lapel one regularly, I’ve had a ’50s duffle coat styled one, and a ’70s belted model. This is the oldest I’ve laid my hands on, but sadly, also the most tattered.
1948 French Canvas duster
This French Canvas coat is dated 1948. While it is only a size 2, it is roughly tent-sized. The extremely long belt allows it to be cinched down to more-or-less any size.
WWII Swedish leather jacket
This is a great piece of European military leather. Super heavy, thick horsehide(?) with a great grain to it. Belted back, fur collar. Brings to mind the days of open cockpits. It’s lined in gray wool blanket material and has pewter backing buttons.
1937 Richman Brothers Overcoat
It’s always nice when pieces are dated. This one is from 1937 and was sold by Richman Brothers. It is double breasted, with a back belt. The fabric is that great 1930s alpaca blend that was advertised under so many brand names. “Warmth without Weight” was one of the slogans- but trust me, these are hefty coats, especially by todays standards. If you want a good overcoat, one with a nice, comfortable cut, with heavy, warm fabric- the only way to go is vintage.
WWII USN foul weather mackinaw
This shawl collared beauty was issued in WWII. It has a mouton collar, a shearling lining, and a waterproof rubberized shell, with horsehide trim.
USN cold weather jacket
I’m not sure what the designation on this one is, other than that is is a Navy piece. It has a full removable alpaca lining and a cotton shell. Handwarmer pockets, flapped pockets, and a brass talon zipper. It got the hippie treatment later on in its life, probably bought surplus, and now proudly sports a Greatful Dead patch on its shoulder.
1930s black overcoat
Quite the fancy belted back on this one. A pleat runs from the top of the back all the way down. For whatever reason, someone removed the sleeve linings.
