Los Angeles Sportogs leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made in California in the 1940s by Los Angeles Sportogs. It is a battledress/ Ike jacket influenced style, probably produced just after the war. It has stitched down epaulettes, a sptread collar and a front belt closure. The front is closed with a short deco sunburst talon zipper. The front pockets and label are missing, but I have seen one other example of this jacket sell about four years ago, and another example in a Japanese vintage leather book. I’ve rented this one out, and it has appeared on several album covers, including Deanna Bogart’s “Pianoland” and Merl Johnson’s “Better Man”.Chest: 23″ (doubled =46″)Shoulder to Shoulder: 19″Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 23″

Wrangler 126mj denim jacket

This vintage denim jacket was made in the 1970s by Wrangler. It is their 126mJ model. Big pointy collar. A nice fade pattern to the “no fade” denim. Tagged a size 42.Chest: 21″Shoulder to Shoulder: 19″ Sleeve: 25″

Star Sportswear Kurland Gluv-Tanned leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made by Star Sportswear, under the “Kurland” label. It is made of “Gluv-Tanned” leather, which , going by period advertisements, was a tanning process Star used primarily on cowhide, which gave it a soft finish. Star Sportswear is also known for its USN G-1 contract. This jacket is a classic early motorcycle style, with a D-Pocket map pocket and a front belt. It has an action back, and a brass Scovill zipper.

This vintage leather jacket is a “Wind Cheater” made by the British Mfg. Co. of Montreal, Canada. At other points in the company’s life, they were known as Brimaco and as British Cycle Leathers. This jacket was made in the 1960s, and is a copy of the famous Harley Davidson Cycle Champ leather jacket’s design. It has a large D-Pocket, with smaller cigarette pockets on either side of the jacket. There are studs on the epaulettes and at points of stress on the pockets. It has a front belt and zip cuffs. The jacket has Canadian made “Acme” zippers. It is fully lined in tartan wool. Snaps are all “United Carr” brand. Chest: 23-1/2″Shoulder to Shoulder: 19″Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 23-1/2″

WWII USAAF officer’s mackinaw

This vintage officer’s short overcoat / shawl collared mackinaw was made during WWII for Captain H. W. Largent of Presque Isle, Maine. It bears a USAAF patch on the left shoulder. It has a shawl collar, a double breasted front, with two flapped patch pockets, epaulettes, and is belted. The inside is lined, with a quilted section by the arms. The jeep coat has a united garment workers of America union label in the inside pocket.Chest: 21″Shoulder to Shoulder: 18″Shoulder to cuff: 25-1/2″

Spiegel Front Quarter Horsehide leather jacket

This vintage long half-belt was sold by Spiegel in the 1950s. It is made of front quarter horsehide with a sheepskin lining. It has an action bi-swing back, belt back, two flapped front pockets, with handwarmer pockets and a diagonal zip chest pocket. The sheepskin lining extends three quarters down with the remainder, and the sleeves, being quilted rayon. The jacket has a conmar zipper, but the zipper tape has rotted at the bottom, so it will need to be replaced.

Harold’s Sportswear Civilian A2

This vintage jacket was either made by or sold by Harold’s Sportswear in the 1950s. It is a typical civilian A-2 influenced design of the period, with flapped cargo and slash handwarmer pockets, eppaulettes, and a knit waistband and cuffs. It has a crown zipper, scovill snaps on the wind flap, and a great patina.

DeLong sportswear jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the early 1950s by DeLong sportswear. It is made of “Nylodeen”, a miracle fabric advertised heavily in the 1950s, which was a nylon-wool blend in a gabardine weave, designed to shed water more readily than a standard all wool gabardine. The pile collar of this coat was described in period advertisements as being a timme-mouton. It has a front belt, a talon zipper and a quilted lining. It is tagged a size 40.Other than the color and size, the coat worn by Flick in “A Christmas Story” is nearly identical. Aero Duxback hunting jacket

This vintage hunting jacket was made in Utica, New York by Duxback. It is marked Aero Rainproof Sportsman’s Clothing. It has a three pocket front, with saddlebag patch pockets. It has an action back, with a belt. There are under sleeve gussets. There are scalloped snap closure pocket flaps to access the interior game pocket. The rubberized lining of the game pocket has hardened an is cracking. Inside, there are two large breast pockets. All snaps are United Carr. It is tagged a size 44.

William Barry leather jacket

This vintage leather jacket was made by William Barry, under their “Score One” label. It is very close to a ’30s or ’40s halfbelt pattern, but with a bigger collar and front yoke. Halfbelt back. Brass talon zipper. The leather is relatively light weight. Chest: 21″Shoulder to Shoulder: 17″Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 25″
