1930s Windward sheeplined coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1930s for Montgomery Ward under their Windward label. It is made from brown canvas, with a dark brown mouton collar. The coat has donut style buttons on the throat latch, loop closure on the front, handwarmer pockets and cargo pockets. This work coat was clearly used for its designed purpose, and one of the cargo pockets still has a handful of vintage nails in it. The coat has a sheepskin lining in the body and a blanket lining in the sleeves.

1940s Bouldercord Suit

This vintage work suit was made in the mid-late 1940s. It is made in California of Vat Dyed Mercerized Sanforized Bouldercord whipcord. The jacket is waist length, with small, mid-set flapped patch pockets and a shirt style collar. It has a Talon zipper, with a square hole pull and Talon marked U shaped stop box, which put the date of manufacture in the years immediately after WWII. The pants are flat fronted, and appear to have had original cuffs let down.

1930s Double Duty mackinaw coat

This vintage mackinaw coat was made in the mid-late 1930s by Double Duty (for rugged wear). It is double breasted, with handwarmer and flapped cargo pockets. It has a halfbelt back with button on belt quarters to form a full belt. As is typical with work mackinaws of this period, this coat is unlined.

Duxbak half-zip chinstrap work shirt

This vintage shirt was made in the 1930s by Duxbak in Utica, New York from plaid wool fabric from the Newton Woolen Mills of Homer, New York. It has a half-zip front with an early Talon zipper and a two button chinstrap.

1930s-1940s half-belt canvas work jacket

This vintage workwear jacket was made in the late 1930s-1940s. It has a mid-late 1940s Talon zipper, but the stitching is crude and doesn’t match the rest of the stitching on the jacket, so it is very likely a replacement. The jacket is made of heavyweight twill, with handwarmer pockets, a breast pocket, half-belt back and side adjuster belts.

This vintage hunting jacket was made for Penney’s under their Sportclad label in the 1940s. It has a square hole slider, Talon marked U shaped stopbox Talon zipper, handwarmer pockets, snapped cargo pockets and a rear game pouch. It is lined in a contrast wool plaid.

1920s Carter’s denim workwear chore jacket

This vintage denim jacket was made by Carter’s (H.W. Carter) of Lebanon, New Hampshire. It has a five button front (including the collar button) and four pockets on the front with an additional one inside. It has ring-back buttons with metal grommet reinforcement. The back of the buttons has patent dates from 1913 and 1917. The jacket bears an early variant tag from the United Garment Workers of America.

1920s Thompson Mfg. Co denim chore jacket

This vintage denim chore coat was made by the Thompson Manufacturing Company, which was located at 56 Church Street, Belfast, Maine. They produced overalls and “working clothes” from a 7,980 square foot, 3 story factory, built in 1909, and did not survive the depression, with the business closing c. early 1930s. The jacket is made from selvedge denim with a four button (including the collar) front and three pockets. The donut-hole buttons bear the maker’s name,

1930s Knockabout wool half-belt workwear jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1930s by Knockabout. It is made of mackinaw wool, with a pleated, half belt back, low slung side adjuster belts, a grommet pin-lock Crown zipper, button adjuster cuffs, leather trim on the pockets. As is typical of these early work jackets, this one is unlined. The unusual coil zipper on the breast pocket was made by Nu-Zip
