Unmarked fur felt
I got this one direct from Italy. It has a nice fur felt body, but a cloth sweatband, no liner, and no markings whatsoever. So a high end body, but a low end hat. Because of the construction of this one, it was easy to roll and pack.
University Club Snap Brim Homburg
The flanging on this one is somewhere between a fedora and a homburg, allowing it to be worn either way. This 1930s hat was made for the younger audience.
Adam Back Bow
This Adam dates from the mid to late 1950s. It has a porkpie crease without the center bump-up. The ribbon is tri-tone, with a back bow. Adams of this era used a plastic protective barrier between the sweatband and the felt of the hat, which shrinks up something fierce with age and heat. It’s easily remedied by simply ripping the plastic out of the hat. As you can see, this one had that problem.
Italian pork pie boater
It’s rock hard like a boater, the same weave as a boater, but blocked and flanged like a ’50s or ’60s pork pie. The brim is fixed down.
Rekcud Boater
This boater dates from the 1920s. Notice how much fancier it is in terms of weave than the later hats.
Brasiliano
Another Borsalino knockoff from Brasiliano. Here’s the other one.
THis one has loads of style, with a pleated ribbon, fancy exotic textured sweatband and colorful pleated liner.
Duch and Sons London
I got this one from Italy. The “hand made” script is in Italian, but it is marked as being a London hat. Who knows?
Genuine French Leghorn
This French leghorn dates from the 1920s or early 1930s. It’s a wide straw braid, with a tall, straight sided optimo block, with a shallow center dent. Two tone patterned ribbon.
Genuine Bangora fedora
Straw treated with waterproofing. Drilled vents. Despite their tight weaves, these were inexpensive hats, with cheap trimmings.
