Alberg red blazer with black velvet collar

Now on eBay!
This vintage jacket was made in the late ’50s or early 1960s by Alberg of Montreal.  It is a bright red flannel blazer with a black velvet collar.  Very much a hunt inspired blazer.  It has a short rear vent, one button on each sleeve, and no breast pocket.  There is some slight staining to the front of the jacket, which could probably be taken care of with a dry cleaning.  The jacket is half-lined in dark red.
Chest: 22″
Shoulder to Shoulder: 18-1/2″
Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 25″
Length: 32″

Color and Pattern Coordination

Blue striped suiting, gray felt hat with black band, black shoes, contrasting tie. Conservative 1930s attire.

A wild brown tweed like this calls for brown shoes and a brown hat. Both the shoes and the hat have good chunky proportions, going with the boldness of the tweed. The blue tie harmonizes with the blue overcheck. Keep the tie pattern small so that it does not compete with the tweed. A ’40s country look.

Western String Ties

Harland Sanders may have made him his signature look, but don’t let that limit you. These western style bow ties can be pretty hip in a neo-victorian sort of way.

And then there are these. I don’t quite know what to make of them. Somewhere between a bow tie, a string tie and a long necktie. Cool western branding iron graphics, but I don’t know whether that redeems the design itself. A matched set, so they could look good for a western swing band or something of that sort.
