This hat, from the 1950s or 1960s, is a cheap wool felt. The welted brim edge is something you see on fedoras, but you just don’t see on nicer westerns. A hat like this needs it for stiffening. It has a horseshoe shaped crease, an imitation leather band and a very thin liner.

It says Borsalino, but didn’t seen quite up to regular Borsalino standards, even for lightweight rollers. I had this shipped over direct from Italy from a dealer who had great hats and insisted on shipping them all in envelopes. Always required a lot of work to get them looking like hats again, and not like pancakes.
