This hat, from the 1950s or 1960s, is a cheap wool felt. The welted brim edge is something you see on fedoras, but you just don’t see on nicer westerns. A hat like this needs it for stiffening. It has a horseshoe shaped crease, an imitation leather band and a very thin liner.
I’m not convinced this hat ever looked very good. Golden corduroy with a black band. Very casual, very small. It got squished somewhere along the line and looks pretty rumpled.
This old Frankfurt sold Wegener Florett fedora had extremely elastic, springy felt. It has an early style sweatband with wide embossing and a laced rear seam. The hat is of a casual style with a short brim and crown, and a felt ribbon.
This hat dates from the 1950s- post Stetson buyout. Similar to the Stetson Whippet in dimensions and trimming. It looks like this hat had a factory blocked crown as opposed to coming open crowned.

This was the first fedora I got off eBay, I think the second thing I got off eBay at all, after a ’50s diner matchbook. I wore it to Alaska, but didn’t end up keeping it too long after that.
It says Borsalino, but didn’t seen quite up to regular Borsalino standards, even for lightweight rollers. I had this shipped over direct from Italy from a dealer who had great hats and insisted on shipping them all in envelopes. Always required a lot of work to get them looking like hats again, and not like pancakes.
This was the first vintage hat I bought. I got it at a shop in Arizona right around easter when I was 14 years old. This is the one that started it all- and it’s all been downhill (uphill?) since.
This marathon has a classic color scheme- gray and champagne. The ribbon is fancy, but somehow makes it more casual.
Not just fine- Superfine!
This hat runs the casual end of homburgs. Brown, front dents, rust colored binding. I got this and a similarly colored Stetson Flagship in trade for a thin ribbon 1950s Mallory, which suited, and fit the client much better.
