Low Crown back bow Borsalino

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

This is an unusual style of hat. Wide brim, low porkpie crown, back bow, slightly fuzzy finish.

Pollini Italian fedora

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

This is another hat I got from a supplier in Italy. And another one that arrived squished in an envelope. But you know, the work put into fixing the shipping damage was always worth it. The guy had some really interesting hats.

Milan Homburg

Another case of a casual homburg, this one in milan straw. I got rid of it mostly because of the cheap sweatband.

Resistol Back Bow fedora

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

I got this Resistol in an antique shop in Maine. It has kitten finish felt, an original care manual under the sweatband, and a back bow. It was sold by Haynes and Co. of Springfield, MA.

Bergen white short top hat

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

This hat is a mystery. I’ve seen them show up on ebay from time to time. They’re mostly all from this company, and all are from New Jersey. They’re all oddball colors. Masonic? Mummers? I would guess some kind of fraternal organization.

Wide Binding Dobbs

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

This one has super wide binding, and probably had a wide ribbon. The ribbon is long gone, unfortunately. The fur felt is a light sandy brown.

Champ “Gay Prince” Clone

This 1940s whipstitch trimmed fedora is very close to the heavily advertised Dobbs Gay Prince model. It’s in an uncommon shade of green.
