This vintage coat was made in the early 1940s by the Joseph & Feiss Company under their Clothcraft label from Durolux fabric for the Beck Clothing Company of Jamestown, North Dakota. The coat is dark blue, double breasted, with wide lapels, handwarmer pockets and a plain back. It is half-lined.

This vintage jacket was made in Chicago c.1947 by John Rissman & Son under the Windbreaker label. It is made of a brown wool material with an alpaca pile-like napped surface. It has a transitional Talon zipper with a wartime style pull and a post-war style stopbox, which helps date it with a good degree of accuracy to the years immediately after WWII. The jacket is a cossack style, with a pleated and belted back and handwarmer pockets. The jacket has a quilted lining and bears the union label of the United Garment Workers of America.

This vintage coat is a 1930s railroad mackinaw. It is double breasted, with a shawl collar, belted back, handwarmer pockets and cargo pockets. Because this is a workwear coat, subject to abuse, this style had additional leather reinforcement at the pockets, sleeve bottom and cuffs. As was typical of these early production mackinaw coats, this one is unlined, with taped seams. While the shawl collar mackinaw style goes back to the 1910s, the leather reinforced railroad version didn’t gain popularity until the 1920s. By the early 1940s, production was waning, though old coats of this style continued to be be worn for years, a testament to their durability and warmth.

This vintage overcoat was made between 1933 and 1935 by Hart Schaffner & Marx for the Lou Lucke Co. of Havre, Montana. The coat is double breasted, in a blue and gray tweed. It has a pleated back and raglan shoulders. The coat bears a NRA (National Recovery Act) member tag, which dates the coat accurately. Lou Lucke was born in 1874 and operated a mercantile in Havre starting in 1903.
