1940s Hudsons Bay point blanket coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1940s-1950s by the Hudson’s Bay Company from their Hudson’s Bay Point blankets.  This one is made in the rare brown on brown color scheme, with the black and red being more common in that era.  It is double breasted, with a belted waist and a half-lining.

1930s A&N Trading shawl collar mackinaw

This vintage coat was made by the A&N Trading Co of 8th and D St. NW Washington DC in the 1930s, either for the Army or the Civilian Conservation Corps.  It is the rare early variant of the army shawl collar mackinaw, made from OD wool, with a double breasted closure, belted waist, and epaulettes.  In keeping with the early pattern, and typical of work mackinaws of this period, the coat is unlined.

1940s zip front plaid hunting coat

This vintage hunting coat was made in the mid 1940s.  It is an unusual design, cut short, with a three button front, and a zipper front.  The zipper is a Talon of a design used immediately after WWII.  The back has flaps to access the internal game pouch and the back of the coat is lined with a salt and pepper type material, as are the pocket flaps.

This vintage mackinaw was made in the late 1930s-early 1940s for Penneys and was sold under their Sportclad label.  It is a blue-green and brown plaid, with a belt back, double breasted cut, has handwarmer and flapped cargo pockets, and as typical of these early coats, is unlined.

This coat was made in Japan by Heller’s Cafe / Warehouse. The design is heavily influenced by work mackinaw styles of the 1930s-1940s.  It is double breasted, with hand warmer pockets, flapped cargo pockets and a single zipped pocket.  The zipper is a Talon. It has a belted back and like the originals, is made with an unlined construction.

Early’s Witney Point blanket coat

This vintage coat was made in Canada in the 1950s from English made Early’s Witney Point Blanket material and was sold by Sears under their Hercules Fieldmaster label. It has a Milium lining, which, when combined with the incredibly thick blankets used in this make for one of the warmest vintage coats out there.

Penn-Rich Workman’s mackinaw coat

This vintage jacket was made in the 1930s from Penn-Rich plaid mackinaw wool, and bears a “Workman’s” tag. The coat is a classic work mackinaw cut, double breasted with handwarmer pockets and flaped cargo pockets.  This one has a button on throat latch under the collar, and is fully lined in a second layer of plaid mackinaw wool.
