1920s Extra Quality eight pleat flat cap

This vintage cap was made in the 1920s – early 1930s and is marked “Extra Quality”. It is made of heavy mackinaw wool, with a one piece, eight pleat design, herringbone and fur lined earflaps and a snap brim. This type of cap is typical of fall/winter workwear caps of that era, and it is rare to find one in this large size and in wearable condition.

This vintage hat was made in the 1960s-1970s by the John B. Stetson company for the Sheplers western store, and is co-branded. It is a size 7, and while labeled a “Tulsa” model for Sheplers, it is identical to Stetson’s Open Road of the period.

This vintage fedora was made by the Knox hat company of New York and is their Tom ‘n’ Jerry model. It has a pleated “shark gill” ribbon, a Knox branded wind string button, double stitched brim edge detail and a suede finish in a sage green color. It was originally sold by Tip Top men’s wear of Woodbury, New Jersey.

1920s leather flight cap

This vintage flight helmet was made in the 1920s. It is made of leather, with a two contrast color racing stripes down the middle. It has snap-down tabs to hold your goggles. The snaps are from the United States Fastener Company, with merged with Carr Fastener in 1929 to form United Carr, so the hardware dates from before this merger, helping to date the helmet. It it stamped a size medium, and a style 113. It measures 20″ in circumference.

This vintage hat was made in the 1920s by the John B. Stetson Company of Philadelphia, PA from clear nutria felt with a “Boss Raw Edge” brim treatment for the Vic Hanny Co. of Phoenix, Arizona. The hat has a 4″ brim, a 1-1/4″ ribbon with a twisted knot and feathered trailing edge. The sweatband is marked LOT 6300, along with Reingold and Getz. There is a tag, which has been taped back together at some point, under the sweatband which reads,”Hat Satisfaction is a part of what you pay for herein buying a hat; there’s no extra charge for it. If you don’t get it bring back the hat; the money is on call. Vic Hanny Co.” The hat has six cattle brands branded into the felt.
