This vintage cowboy hat was made in the 1930s by Protecto. The model name is “The Rancher”. It has a wide bound brim and a five cord hatband. The sweatband is an early 1930s style, with a wide embossed stripe at the top. The liner is the nearly identical to the “Last Drop” image as is found on Stetson hats.

This vintage cowboy hat was made in the 1930s by G.W. Alexander & Co. of Reading, PA. It was sold as a house-branded hat by William Paul Brodt Inc., one of the premier hat sellers and manufacturers of Washington DC. They were located at 509 11th St, NW, and sold hats to many of the major politicians of the day. The hat is blocked on a San Fran Sr. block. It has a wide brim and a three cord ribbon. It is labeled “The Elk Brand Hat”, a line sold by Brodt’s.

This vintage western hat was made in the 1910s or 1920s, and was sold by Montgomery Ward. This style was called the “Columbia” by various manufacturers and was a popular western style at the time.
It is made of black fur felt, with a pencil curled brim, and a narrow ribbon with a western style bow. It has a tall crown, creased with a center dent and front pinches, though the felt is such that it can easily be re-creased as you so choose. The hat is unlined and has a brown leather sweatband, embossed with an early Montgomery Ward crest. The reorder tag, indicating the hat is a size 7, is of a generic style and doesn’t offer many clues as to who made the hat for Montgomery Ward.

This vintage fedora was custom made in Boston by Fitzgerald hatters. I believe it dates from just after the war from the style, but the construction has a number of more typically pre-war details to it. The hat has a fancy pleated liner and a textured, unreeded sweatband. The hat has a teardrop crown, narrow brim binding and a fancy ribbon.

this hat was made by the John B. Stetson Company in the mid 1980s. It is made of fur felt, grown soft and pliable through decades of usage. It bears the Gun Club model name, used since the 1950s on a variety of styles. This one has a raw edge brim, and a C-Crown, with a medium width ribbon. The proportions and feel of the hat are very similar to the 1950s Brent “Adventurer” model. The sweatband bears the Stetson crest imprint, oddly the earlier “stars” variant on the design used in the 1950s and before. The sweatband material itself is pure 1980s Stetson.
