Pilgrim Columbia

This Sears mail order wool felt cowboy hat dates from the 1930s through mid 1940s. It was an inexpensive working man’s hat, and while it has a cheap wool felt body, it has a nice leather sweatband and good quality ribbon work. Usually companies skimp on costs the other way around.

Aetna Deluxe turquoise cowboy hat

This long hair Aetna cowboy hat dates from the early 1930s or so. It has a high crown, wide, kettle curled brim and great graphics. But what makes it really unusual is the color. How about that wild turquoise color?!

This hat falls somewhere between a c crown fedora and a porkpie. It has a back bow and dates from the late 1950s.

Treasury. If you’re in Washington, DC, you have to go there- it’s a great shop.

Cavanagh

I found this one at a Maryland Hospital charity shop for not too much. I don’t find too many hats at thrift shops. Suits, jackets, coats, yes, but hardly ever hats.

This is a pretty standard stingy brim, but since it’s a Cavanagh, its quality is top notch.

Brasiliano

I got this Brasiliano hat shipped over from Italy. It’s a Borsalino knock-off, and while the quality isn’t AS nice, it’s still pretty good, with a very nice fur felt body. The sweatband’s not the best, but it is leather.

Velour finish Barcelona hat, probably from the ’70s or ’80s. Made of imported furs. Medium width brim- tapered crown.

Champ Stingy Brim

I like the unusual color of the liner on this one, along with its graphics. 1960s hats were good for that. It’s also unusual to see stingy brims like this with a bound brim- usually you saw welts. This one has the most characters I’ve ever seen stamped on the sweatband.

Stevens – The Royalist

This is a nicer quality milan straw by Stevens. Leather sweatband, liner tip. Soft, flexible milan straw.
