This vintage hat was made by Stetson under the Mallory name after their buyout of that brand. Stylistically, it is identical to the Stetson Open Road. It is a size 7, and has a bound brim, narrow ribbon and cattleman blocked crown.

This vintage hunting vest was made by the Gem Shirt Company of Dayton, Ohio in the 1910s-1920s. The Gem Shirt Co. was founded c.1888, and diversified into canvas hunting clothes in the early part of the 20th century, innovating the usage of lined waterproof game bags. They were a high end maker at the time, making their products from an excellent grade of cotton canvas duck. They ceased production by the 1920s. It has corduroy shotgun shell pockets, ring backed buttons branded with the Gem logo, and a yellow on black label.

This vintage belt was made c.1938 and was sold by Sears under the “Cowhand Special” model name. This type of jeweled, studded western belt was popular between about 1933 and 1941, with narrower styles and styles with overlaid contrast leather reviving it in the late 1940s-mid 1950s. This early variant was equally popular with cowboys as it was with the collegiate crowd, and you frequently see these worn in period photos with wide waistband collegiate slacks. This style of belt buckle was used on these belts from 1937-1939.

This vintage jacket was made in the 1940s as a souvenir of a tour in China. It is a waist length wool jacket, with shirt style pockets and an extension tab waistband. The quality of the wool makes me think the jacket itself was Theatre made rather than a cut down uniform. It is embroidered with dragons on the insides of the cuffs, liberty cuff style, a junk and a rickshaw on the breast pockets, and a dragon on the back. The back reads, “Tsing Tao, Hong Kong, Shanghai, China, 1948”. The front of the jacket bears the original owner’s name, Don C. Yanders, who served aboard submarines during WWII and who was stationed in China in the immediate post-war years.

This vintage vest was made in the late war period. It is green cotton with an alpaca pile lining. It has a mid-late 1940s round hole Talon zipper, and a full embroidered back with a dragon and the years 1945-1946.
