1950s Frankoat tweed Chesterfield overcoat

This vintage coat was made in the 1950s by Frank Bros under the Frankoat label. It was sold in Vincennes, Indiana by Albert’s, Inc. It is made of a gray tweed wool, with a velvet collar to give it that Chesterfield overcoat style. By the way it wraps from the front to the back of the collar, my guess would be that the velvet collar was added by a tailor after the coat’s initial manufacture. The coat has a plain back and cuffed sleeves.

Brooks Brothers Chesterfield Coat

This vintage Chesterfield overcoat was made in the 1940s for Brooks Brothers. It is made of high quality wool, with a fly front, peak lapels and a velvet collar. It is fully lined, with two inside pockets. According to the hanger chain, it was originally owned by a Jacques Sammes.

1930s Rogers Peet chesterfield overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1930s by high-end clothier Rogers Peet. The coat was purchased at their Boston location, 104 Tremont Street, by an A. Leighton of 10 Chauncy Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He wore the coat until 1948, evidenced by a postal insurance form dated February 18th, 1948 and a checking deposit slip dated February 24, 1948, both found in the breast pocket and included with the coat. The coat is about as classic as they come. It is a chesterfield, with a three button fly front (rolled to the second button) and a velvet collar. It is made of some of the finest, densest wool I have felt. Absolutely the quality you would expect from Rogers Peet. It has flapped pockets and a vented back with two buttons to close the vent. The coat is luxuriantly fully lined.. There is a small button which allows the lapels to be buttoned up against the Boston winters.

1920s leather lined shawl collar coat

This vintage coat was made in the 1920s. It is a shawl collared mackinaw style, with a sheepskin collar. The coat is belted with an early style buttoned belt. It has handwarmer pockets on the chest and flapped cargo pockets on the hips. The coat is leather-lined in the body and sleeves for windproofing. Prior to the adoption of leather as a common exterior material for coats in the 1920s, it was popular as a lining material for outdoorsy garments like this one.

1940s Hart Schaffner & Marx single breasted overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1940s by Hart Schaffner & Marx and was sold by Moore, which had locations in San Francisco and Oakland, California. It is made of lightweight light-brown salt and pepper wool. It has a single breasted cut with a fly front, wide peak lapels, and button adjustment belts on the cuffs.

1930s Milcraft Clothes belted overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the mid 1930s by Milcraft Clothes of St. Paul, Minnesota. It is double breasted, with a full belt, patch pockets, cuffed sleeves, a breast pocket, and a fancy yoked, pleated back. As is typical of overcoats of this period, it is half-lined. Unfortunately, there are no union tags or tailor’s tags, but the particular details, style of the Millcraft label, and style and cut of the coat allow for fairly close dating. Pocket square not included.

1934 NRA tagged Davis Overcoat

This vintage overcoat was tailored in October of 1934 by Davis Tailorcrest of Seattle, Washington for Sherman Bast. It bears the eagle NRA (National Recovery Administration) Code authority tag. The coat is double breasted, with a full belt and patch pockets. It is made from a luxurious textured gray wool.

1950s German Leather Overcoat

This vintage leather overcoat was made in Germany in the 1950s. It is made from heavy russet brown leather- probably steerhide. It has yoked shoulders, a buttonless double breasted front, slash handwarmers, zipper pockets on the chest, and a zipper pocket behind the lapel. All zippers are riri. The coat has a full plaid lining and an intenal snap fastening belt. The back of the coat has a nice double inverted (non-functional) pleat sunburst design.

1947 Ferguson and Allison overcoat

This vintage overcoat was tailored in May of 1947 by Ferguson & Allison of 1110 Grand Avenue, Kansas City, MO. It is made of brown herringbone wool, and has a double breasted cut, with caramel colored buttons and sleeve cuffs. It is fully lined, with a great pattern to the lining.

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1930s. It is double breasted, with sleeve cuffs, a slanted breast pocket, steeply slanting shoulder seams and a plain back. The coat is half lined.
