Uber pullover leather jacket

http://www.ebay.com/itm/272050105305

This vintage jacket was made in Owatonna, Minnesota by Uber from deerskin leather.  It is a pullover style, with a lace up front and side zipper.  It has two C&C zip breast pockets and is lined. While the 44″ chest measurement would seem to suggest a size 40, trust me that with the pullover cut of this, it fits much better on a 36-38.

Chest (pit to pit): 22″ (doubled = 44″)
Shoulder to shoulder: 17-1/2″
Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 21-3/4″
Length (base of collar to hem): 27″

1930s fringed deerskin leather cossack jacket

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271685853101
This vintage leather jacket was made in Mexico. This waist length, button front, leather waistbanded style with triangular side panels, patch pockets and side adjuster belts was popular in the early 1930s. This was the original cossack style jacket before the half-belt back models took over. As was typical of many early leather jackets, this one is unlined. It is marked a size 36 in pen but measures smaller, probably originally worn by a teen.

Chest (pit to pit): 18″ (doubled = 36″)
Shoulder to shoulder: 15″
Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 22″
Length (Base of collar to end of fringe): 21″

It is made of russet colored deerskin, in a western utility jacket cut with fringed front and rear yokes. It has elasticized sides, a ’50s update from the older side buckle adjusters. It has button cuffs and handwarmer pockets. The jacket does up with a Conmar zipper of the design used in the 1950s.

WB Place Deerskin Leather Jacket

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281038245725

This vintage deerskin jacket was made by the W.B. Place company of Hartford, Wisconsin.  They were tanners- you sent them a deerskin, they tanned it and tailored it into a jacket or gloves.  This jacket has a classic design for this kind of leather, very outdoorsy, with a western yoked front and back, contrast leather stitching and fringe.  There are issues with the finish of the jacket, which seem more to do with the quality of the original tanning job than with wear.  There is wear just above the cuffs, where the owner rolled the sleeves under to shorten them.Chest: 23″Shoulder to Shoulder: 19″Sleeve: 25″    Photobucket
