Sunshine Genuine Panama

This optimo crown panama dates from the 1920s or 1930s. Fairly tight weave. Looks like it may have received the white treatment at some point.

Genuine Milan Weave

A cheap 1960s one-season straw. Low quality milan, low quality trimmings. The only reason so many of these survive is that so many were made.

This Adam Adamajestic dates from the early through mid 1930s. It has a white fur felt body, tall straight sided crown, and relatively flat, short brim. The sweatband is unreeded.

Hopkin’s Milan- Made in Baltimore

This is one of the nicer milans I’ve had come through. This and the Resistols. Great body, great quality trimmings and heapings of style. It dates from the late ’40s through mid ’50s.

Canadian Made Imperial Stetson

Posted on June 3, 2012 by Spencer Stewart

Canadian made Stetsons had gold foil tags. This one is also marked with a Canadian retailer’s stamp, so it’s easier to place the location of manufacture. It’s somewhere between a tyrolean and a pork pie in styling.

Resistol Straw

Resistol milans are my personal favorites. They really did a good job- high quality bodies, wild trimming, and good sweatbands.
