This vintage coat was made by the Fechheimer Bros Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It bears a 1930s United Garment Workers of America union label in the rare small size. I’ve had a number of these shawl collar mackinaws, and from maker to maker there were a number of subtle variations from the stock pattern. This one is truly special, with unique pointed, buttoned patch pockets, epaulettes of an unusual design, and a high button stance. Typical for the 1930s production of these coats, commonly worn as fall/ winter workwear by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps, this one is unlined with finished seams.

This vintage suit was made by Clipper craft clothes. It is gray on gray pinstripe with a two button front and peak lapels. It appears to have never been worn and the pockets are still basted shut.

This vintage shooting jacket was made in the late 1930s by the 10-X manufacturing company of Des Moines, Iowa. It is made of vat dyed Sanforized army cloth cotton twill. It is a half-belt design, with norfolk-style straps on the front to support the pockets. There are loops for two shells and gun pad reinforcement on the left shoulder. The high buttoning is typical of these earlier production models. The jacket has patches from 1930s-1940s, from the Elkhart Indiana CCC Gunners, the 1941 5th Annual International Wildlife Restoration Shoot, from Remington (25 straight skeet) and from Western (25 straight skeet).

It is double breasted, with a shawl collar, epaulettes, buttoned cuff adjuster belts and flapped patch pockets. It is unlined with taped seams, a hallmark of the early production versions of this coat.

This vintage coat is an extremely rare pre-war m-1926 army mackinaw (short overcoat). It is double breasted, with a wide shawl collar and large flapped patch pockets. As was typical of early shawl collared mackinaw coats, both military and civilian, it is unlined. The updated version of this coat issued in WWII featured a lining. This pre-war pattern was commonly seen on Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees. Based on the 43″ chest measurement, this would fit best in the 36 to 38 size range.

This vintage WWII Army officer’s mackinaw coat has a double breasted front, a shawl collar, epaulettes, and a buttoned belt. It was tailored by Sakowitz Bros. of Houston, Texas. It is fully lined, with quilted shoulders.

I feel that the shawl collared officer’s Mackinaw is one of the best looking, most practical coats to have come out of WWII. I’ve sold two so far, one by the Progressive Clothing Mfg. Co. (full post), the other a custom job for Captain H. W. Largent of Presque Isle, Maine (full post). I have a spot on repro done in the ’60s by Lakeland in bright red wool, and three more originals that I should be listing next week. The design was essentially a civilian one, a holdover from a style popular in the ’20s for wool outdoors and hunting coats, like the ones seen in this post. I believe the original pattern from which this coat evolved was an m1926.

1930s Red Wing tall brown leather lace up boots. Super narrow width and small size. Marked Red Wing at the top of the shaft. I think they’re even the original laces. Not sure if these are Mens or Womens.
