This gap vest has a great vintage influenced style.  It has a wool plaid shell, with suede gun patches on the shoulders and a four button front.  The vest has a half belt, bi-swing action back, a detail borrowed from vintage leather jackets.  In light of the lack of sleeves, it isn’t super useful other than as a design element, however.  The front of the vest has handwarmer pockets, the bottom of which form the flaps for the cargo pockets.Chest: 23″    Photobucket

Hettrick Hunting Vest

This vintage hunting vest was made by Hettrick Sportswear, “a product of Hettrick Mfg. Co, Toledo, Ohio”.  It is made of brown canvas duck, softened by decades of wear.  It has elasticized loops for shotgun shells and a bellows breast pocket. Sportchief Hunting Vest

This vintage nylon vest was made in Canada by Sportchief quality outerwear.  It has a pile lining and a quilted nylon green nylon shell.  There is one pocket, and it closes with four snaps.  The cut and style is reminiscent of the iconic Brown’s Beach jacket vest.  There are period repairs to the shoulder seam, to some of the quilting, and to a tear on the front.  The stitching on the quilting is coming undone on many parts of the jacket and there is staining.  This saw a lot of wear during its lifetime.
