1920s herringbone tweed Regency House overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1920s-1930s by Regency House of London and New York. It was styled in Golden Square, London, and was sold by Carson Pirie Scott & Company, a high end department store based in Wisconsin. It is made in an extremely bold black and white herringbone tweed, with raglan shoulders, broad lapels, a plain back and button adjuster cuffs. It is half-lined, as was typical of overcoats of this period. There is an internal breast pocket, a smaller pocket, and a button on throat latch for cold weather.

1930s Hart Schaffner & Marx NRA tagged overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made between 1933 and 1935 by Hart Schaffner & Marx for the Lou Lucke Co. of Havre, Montana. The coat is double breasted, in a blue and gray tweed. It has a pleated back and raglan shoulders. The coat bears a NRA (National Recovery Act) member tag, which dates the coat accurately. Lou Lucke was born in 1874 and operated a mercantile in Havre starting in 1903.

1940s peak lapel brown tweed overcoat

This vintage tweed overcoat was made in the 1940s and was sold by the Van Zandt & Willman Golden Clothes Shop of 6222-24 Halstead Street, Chicago, Illinois. The coat is single breasted, in an oatmeal colored tweed, with peak lapels, belted cuffs and raglan sleeves. It is half-lined, as was typical of overcoats of this period. The coat bears a 1939 Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union label.

Sleeve (center of collar to cuff): 33″ (roughly equivalent to a 24 to 24-1/2″ sleeve)

1950s Town and Country tweed and alpaca overcoat

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1950s by Gordon and Ferguson / Guiterman Bros. under the Town & Country label. It was sold by Bloomingdale’s Men’s Store. The coat is double breasted, with a three piece button-on belt. It is weed with an alpaca pile lining.

1940s tweed sportcoat

This vintage tweed jacket was made in the 1940s. It is made of an oatmeal and brown striped tweed, similar in pattern to what was used on Fender tweed amps. It is single breasted, with three leather knot buttons, no vent, and patch pockets. The jacket is half lined and has no tags. The leather buttons may be replacements, as there is a bag with smaller matching leather cuff buttons in the pocket which have not been sewn on.

1920s WisGarCo brown tweed double breasted overcoat

This overcoat was made in the 1920s by the Wisconsin Garment Company, a manufacturer of overcoats and mackinaw coats that operated in the 1910s-early 1930s. Wisgarco was located at 2019 North avenue, Burlington Wisconsin and produced their coats under the Wisgarco label, and their workwear and uniform lines under the Wisconsin Garment Company label. The coat is made from an incredible brown tweed with a blue overplaid. It is double breasted, with a boxy cut, wide droopy peak lapels and flapped pockets. The coat is half-lined.

1970s Kingsridge belt back tweed jacket

This vintage jacket was made by Kingsridge and was sold in Columbus, Georgia by Tillman’s, It is made of tweed, with a belted back, and scalloped pleated pockets.

This vintage overcoat was made in the 1940s. It bears a 1939 Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union tag, placing the dating between 1939 and 1949. The coat is made from bold brown herringbone tweed. It is single breasted, with wide notch lapels and flapped patch pockets. The coat is half-lined, as was typical in this era.

Reversible Tweed and Moleskin coat

This vintage jacket was made in England in the late 1950s-1960s. It is a car coat length and is reversible, herringbone tweed on one side and camel colored moleskin on the other. Each side has handwarmer pockets, and leather loops at the collar for doing the shawl collar up around the neck. It has double vents.

1950s Porter’s Westernwear cowboy jacket

This vintage jacket was made in the 1950s and was sold by Porter’s Frontier Fashions, with locations in Phoenix and Tucson. It is made of oatmeal tweed, in a classic western cut, with peak lapels, front and back scalloped western yokes, flapped, pleated, buttoned patch pockets, bi-swing shoulders and a breast pocket. The jacket bears a 1949 Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union label, the particular variant dating it between 1949 and 1962. From the jacket’s details, I would put the dating in the mid 1950s.
