The Western Look
The western look doesn’t have to be all flashy pearl snap suits and nudie suits (though you will see some of those here in a bit). Tweed, bow tie, custom pure beaver cowboy hat.
Coffee
1940s “Imperial Cap Works” Flat cap. They just don’t make caps like this any more. Not with this shape, this cut, this fabric. Modern caps just don’t cut it in the looks department. But these old ones are a pain to find and to recognize when going through page after page of terrible ebay ads.
Boots
Snakeskin and cutout two tone leather overlay boots.
Plaid
’40s custom made western hat. ’50s Penneys Hunting Jacket. Fingerless wool gloves. Wide Leg Corduroy trousers. Vintage moc toe work shoes.
Tweed
1920s Wisconsin Garment Company tweed overcoat
How it’s worn
Rollable vintage Borsalino, green lens American Optical sunglasses, Continental Coffee Company chainstitched work jacket. All from the ’40s or ’50s.
The look
Late 1950s vintage custom tailored overcoat with velvet collar. Interestingly, the collar was a later replacement, and I found the original, matching collar in the pocket.
