I think Men’s Hats Inc. may have been related to Hopkin’s of Baltimore. Maybe a later iteration of it?
This hat is a milan straw and dates from the 1960s.
This one was relatively modern, and definitely cheap to begin with. The auction started appropriately low, and then a bidding war started, sending the end price skyrocketing. I like making money, but it always makes me nervous when people over pay.
Nothing says tropical adventure quite like a pith helmet. This early 1900s example has a beautifully patina-ed sweatband, and wine colored pleated liner. It was originally purchased from William H. Sands in Nassau N.P. Bahamas.
